Having participated in staff discussions during summer 2008 planning time about our individual passions and talents as teachers, in combination with a careful review of student performance data, Mrs. Renz and Mrs. Zistel, with the support of their principal, have decided to maximize success for their combined students by team teaching this year. This will enable all students in both classes to benefit from the experience and teachings skills of both of these teachers. Mrs. Zistel will be teaching the literacy block (reading, writing, spelling) to both classes and Mrs. Renz will be teaching math, science, health, and social studies to both classes (see schedule below for more details). This teaming effort will give your child the best that each teacher has to offer. Mrs. Zistel is an experienced literacy teacher. She has served on numerous district leadership and training committees in the area of literacy; she has served as a teacher trainer to her district colleagues, and she has experience and training in scoring writing tests for the State of Oregon for three years. Mrs. Renz has a math endorsement and taught middle school math for six years and she has traveled to Panama with Dr. Robert Ballard's JASON Project team (explorer who discovered the Titanic) producing worldwide school programs in science. Both teachers are passionate about these topics and are excited about the opportunity to work with a greater number of students in a more in-depth format. Here is what our students' schedule looks like: 2010-2011 tentative schedule
